Soft Noise is an audiovisual journey through textures, images and melodies. In the post-digital age our lives are simultaneously infinitely connected and infinitely separated. In search of true connection, _pron0ia_ guides the audience through ever changing sonic and visual landscapes which oscillate between the noisy and the calm. As the performer, _pron0ia_ seeks to build a compassionate, yet honest relationship with the audience through sound and image. Without trust, the journey cannot be successful.
This piece is at the intersection of several themes. It is the continuation of _pron0ia_’s ongoing artistic research into technology and visions of the future in search of critical examination of digital capitalism. An attempt to expand on the culture of glitch from the early 2000s without falling into the trap of cliché or academic technicalities.
Soft Noise is also an exercise in post-digital compassion and an embrace of complexity. As a young transgender person in 2024 it is easy to look to the future and only see despair. The rise of neo-fascism worldwide, climate change, and genocide seem to prove wrong the idea that "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.“ (Martin Luther King Jr.). To live life only expecting tragedy cannot be the solution however. Soft Noise subverts the shallow coat of high-gloss, liberal, digital capitalism that covers (sub-) urban European life and looks for truth underneath.
Soft Noise seeks to appeal to a fundamental sense of compassion in the performer and the audience. Building community through audiovisual noise and experiencing trust in the face of adversity.
